Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening options for a glowing smile

Do you have stained teeth that make you feel self-conscious about smiling? Teeth whitening can be a great solution for certain types of tooth staining. Coffee, tea, smoking and wine – these are just a few of life’s little pleasures that can, over time, stain your teeth and leave you feeling less attractive.

Teeth whitening is a safe procedure that can lighten the colour of your teeth by using a safe dental bleaching agent. Individual results vary and are based on your initial tooth colour and the nature of your tooth staining. Teeth whitening is a great way to give a youthful look to your appearance.

We offer two types of teeth whitening – see below for options.

Teeth Whitening - Beautiful Smile

Power Whitening

Here your teeth are whitened in the dental chair using Zoom! A protective barrier is placed on your gums and lips, and a gel is placed on your teeth. A lamp is positioned over the teeth and this activates the bleaching process. After one hour you can expect your teeth to look shades brighter and is a popular choice with many patients who have an important event coming up where they want to look their best.

Your dentist will need to assess your teeth to make sure that you are suitable for the treatment. Once it has been agreed, this procedure usually takes about one to two hours.

Home Whitening

Here we custom-make a lightweight plastic tray for you that fits snugly over your teeth. You then put whitening gel inside the tray and wear it at night or for a few hours during the day. Results are normally seen over two weeks and your teeth will also appear whiter and brighter.

Follow On Care

Many people find that their teeth and gums feel cleaner after they have been whitened. You can help to keep your teeth white by cutting down on the amount of food and drink you have that can stain your teeth. Don’t forget, stopping smoking can also help prevent discolouration and staining.

The following tips are recommended to help keep your teeth whiter for longer:

  • Brush your teeth for two minutes, twice daily day using a fluoride toothpaste
  • Cut down on your sugary foods and drinks
  • Visit your dentist every 6 months
